Start when a contraction begins and stop when it ends. Records stay on this device and clear when you reload the page.

Recorded contractions

No contractions recorded yet.

Interval is measured from the start of one contraction to the start of the next.

How to use the timer

  1. Press Start contraction when a contraction begins.
  2. Press Stop contraction when it ends.
  3. Repeat for each contraction. The table records duration and the interval from the previous start.
  4. Use Print if you want a record to show or describe to your care team.

For more on timing contractions and when to call, read when to call your care team about contractions.

This timer cannot diagnose labor

Contact your maternity care team if your contractions become regular or painful, especially before 37 weeks; if your waters break; if you have bleeding; or if your baby’s movements have decreased. If you are unsure, call and ask. In an emergency, call your local emergency number.

Privacy

The timer runs entirely in your browser. Your records are not sent to a server, saved to an account, or added to a URL. Reloading the page clears them, so print or write down the record if you need to keep it.

Questions about contraction timing

How is the interval measured?

The interval is measured from the start of one contraction to the start of the next. This is the spacing care teams often ask about, rather than the gap between the end of one contraction and the start of the next.

When should I call my care team?

Call if contractions are regular or painful, if you are less than 37 weeks pregnant, if your waters break, if you have bleeding, or if your baby’s movements decrease. Do not wait for a particular timer pattern if something feels wrong.

Are my records saved?

No. Records exist only in the open page. They are cleared on reload. Use the print button if you want a copy.
